With ground insulation an insulating layer is applied to the floor of the crawl space, usually insulation chips or beads levelled into a covering layer. The layer insulates and at the same time slows the damp rising from the ground — which is why ground insulation is often chosen precisely for a damp or low crawl space, where insulation against the floor will not fit.

For an average home you pay € 800 to € 1,800, including labour and materials. Because the material is blown or poured in, ground insulation also works in crawl spaces you can barely crawl into. Mention in your request whether water ever stands in the crawl space: with structural water the company first advises on the cause, because insulating does not solve a water problem.

Ground and floor insulation are regularly combined in a single job — the crew is there with its equipment anyway, which lowers the price per measure. Unsure which of the two fits your crawl space? State the height, hatch and damp in your request, and the company decides the approach.
